Digitalization and technological changes: opportunities and challenges in finance
The recent economic literature highlights how technological transformations create opportunities and challenges for the labour market, production systems, financial and banking markets, and the welfare system. Digital technologies can lower prices and foster new services, but the vast amount of information collected can lead to price discrimination, potentially disadvantaging consumers and reinforcing human biases. The rapid advancement of digital technologies and the government’s emphasis on digital transformation put pressure on firms to invest in digital activities to gain stakeholder and government approval. This digitalization affects decision-making processes, government policies, resource allocation, labour markets, corporate strategies, and capital and banking markets.
